Kaylene Diston

From a young girl, I always had a passion for drawing and experimenting in all types of media. This led me to follow a career in Art. Having completed a Diploma of Art and Design at Caulfield Institute with honours, I secured work as a Graphic Designer and as a book illustrator in my early years. This was followed by a teaching career in Art, Media and Visual Communications at several Secondary Colleges, which spanned 36 years until my retirement in 2012. During my working career I was able to complete a Bachelor of Art at Melbourne University in 1988. In my spare time I dabbled in Art at home.

Since retirement, I am now free to pursue my life’s passion for art and I have been challenging myself with a variety of subjects and media in the search to find my own style. I am still experimenting and perfecting different techniques. Most of my work has been in the form of commissions from people on subjects of their choice, and I am now broadening my exposure as an Australian Artist.
